KISS stands for Keep It Simple, Silly. I am referring to your blog content. People who read blogs are scanners, not in-depth readers. (That is they scan with 2 “n’s” not scam with 2 “m’s”.) They glance over what you’ve written to see if it interests them.
If your topic is interesting, they will read a bit more-in depth; however, keep these tips in mind when writing for the web:
1. Short paragraphs work are better than long.
2. Bullets and numbered lists (like this one) keep information organized and easily readable.
3. Numbers in titles are effective too.
4. Forget your high school English Rules. It is okay to fracture occasional sentences and put prepositions at the end of a sentence, if it makes your writing easier to read.
5. Write in a conversational tone. Write with simple and clear words. It is good to use “you” and “we” in your copy as well.
6. Have a purpose for what you write. (My purpose with this blog entry is to help you more easily write a blog article of your own.)
7. Have an interesting title. (This is one that I personally have to work on. So if I write an article that has a boring title, comment on it. I’d love suggestions.)

I could not agree with this more. Exactly to the point! Your blog entry was short and easy to read. I personally believe people (such as me) will read a short blog, but will only scan long drawn out blog entries. I have tried for quite some time to master this simple format when writing contests promotions. It really works, trust me! If you would be interested in seeing how I use these very techniques in writing popular contests and sweepstakes please come visit me at http://www.pennywisepuzzles.com –Tom Warner

I’m having difficulties seeing your whole site on my Acer netbook screen. Is there a less-wide version of the blog I could look at?

I’m not sure why my blog doesn’t come up correctly on the Acer. I will have to look into that.
